Single low income men can't marry
A study commissioned by the Australian Family Association has found that one in three young men in their twenties and thirties cannot afford to get married.
These single low income men (SLIM’s) do not have a full time job, have low levels of schooling or skills and therefore have low incomes that are insufficient to support a wife and children.
These men are the victims of the rationalist economic policies adopted over the last 20 years in Australia that have seen local jobs disappear in favor of imported goods.
Most men marry in their twenties and thirties so that these SLIM’s are not able to marry and form families.
The study was an analysis of the Census data take over the last three censuses in Australia.
The proportion of men falling into this group is INCREASING according to the data.
Australia has experienced this problem before during the economic depressions of the 1890’s and 1930’s.
As a flow on effect to this problems young women in their marrying years are not able to form relationships because of the ineligibility of the SLIM’s.
Industry, trade and economic policies MUST be changed to provide full time jobs, skills training, education and income levels to these young men to give them the choice to marry and form families.
