What sort of men marry?

Men who come from happy and intact families are most likely to want to marry and form families themselves.

A recent survey of men in the United States has highlighted the type of men that are likely to marry.

This survey will have similar effects for us in Australia.

The survey of men in their twenties and thirties that were most likely to marry and settle down had the following characteristics-

• They were most likely to come from families where their natural parents were still married and lived together.
• They had a good relationship with their natural father.
• Their families were most likely to be religiously observant.
• They had positive views of marriage, women and children.

Women that are looking to marry need to distinguish between men looking for wives and men looking for sex partners.

Significantly, there are about one in five men that are unfavorable to marriage and children and this is a significant increase over past generations.

Fragile families need support and positive reinforcement as the consequences can flow onto attitudes of the males that are the next generation of families in our nation.
